Leading with Purpose: UK supermarket launches plastic-free zones
Thornton’s Budgens is one of the first UK supermarkets to launch plastic-free zones.
It took 10 weeks for the North London store to replace nearly 1,800 products with plastic-free packaging, including traditional paper bags and wax paper as well as corn starch alternatives and vegetable cellulose bags.
Owner Andrew Thornton is a passionate advocate of the need for a change in leadership. Going plastic free is just one of the innovative initiatives he’s introduced at Thornton’s Budgens.
He gave us a tour of the store and explained how he did it.
