Pace of warming: standing at the glacier's edge
New and detailed reports at the end of March 2023 reconfirmed the scale of the climate emergency we all face.
The pace of warming is rising even faster than scientists had predicted. It will impact all our lives, wherever we are on the planet. It will threaten all we take for granted.
A primary indicator is the rate of ice melt everywhere. This is especially in the Arctic and Antarctic, plus every mountain range across the globe.
TTU’s founder and director Nik Gowing visited the Mer De Glace, the once enormous glacier above Chamonix in the French Alps. As you will see, he found the rate of retreat truly scary compared to his last visit in 2018.
